Google
has announced that it has started rolling-out a new stable release of Chrome of
Android web browser, which brings the data compression and bandwidth
management. Google claims that the
compression can reduce data usage by up to 50%. The update brings data
compression to help reduce data usage and save money on your mobile plans,
along with new application shortcuts and a Google Translate feature. The
feature also enables Chrome’s Safe Browsing technology to protect you against
malicious web pages. Google had launched the feature for select iOS users back
in September last year and has now rolled the update for everyone.
The
latest Chrome release will also enable a feature that lets you pin shortcuts to
pages on your home screen. Simply hit the menu button and you'll see a new
option of "Add to home screen" — no more bookmarking and adding a
bookmark widget to your phone manually. Google Chrome has also launched a
useful beta feature for all users. The Chrome users will now be able to see a
small speaker icon next to auto play ads and close it easily. This new feature
is part of the latest beta version of Chrome but will soon be rolled out to all
versions of the browser.
To get these two cool features, first make
sure you are updated to the latest version of Chrome. That alone will take care
of the awesome “Add to Home screen” function. Next, go to Settings
>Bandwidth management > reduce data usage to get the data compression
rolling. Then simply turn the toggle to “On.” You will also be able to see the saving
statistics from this menu itself.
The new version is rolling out in phases and
will reach your Android devices in the next few days.
