UCWeb has
updated its web browser for Android to a new version 9.5, which brings better
downloading speed, an image viewer feature and support for more languages and
fonts on web pages.
The
Android app which is available via the Play Store offers a number of UI
enhancements that include multiple start screens, unlimited speed dials and as
well as the ability to drag and drop shortcuts. There is also a ‘watch offline’
mode as users can cache their favorite videos in the browser. There are several
number of customization options that include the addition of themes and
wallpapers. UCWeb has followed from Google and added an incognito mode. The
browser now has a built-in Ad-Blocker which will improve browsing speed. A
screenshot taking tool has also been added within this browser.
As per the company, the latest UC Browser
version uses ‘segmented file transfer and multi-threaded downloading’ which
splits files into multiple parts for easy downloading. The company has also
increased speed for downloading data from their server. And this has helped the
browser in offering 15% faster downloading speed than the previous version of
the browser, when used on Wi-Fi or 3G. Those on 2G too will be able to
experience better browsing speed. The new version brings support for many
languages, image viewer, web application center and improved download speed.
Among
other changes, the browser can now display content in several new languages
including Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu and more. However, it first has to download
the language packs for any particular language. Another major feature debuting
with UC Browser 9.5 is the web app center, which packs several HTML5
applications that can be used by the consumers.
The Image
Viewer feature will enable users to scroll photo album that showcases all the
pictures on the webpage. The UC Home screen Widget is an additional feature
that will let you create a widget on the home screen for easy access.
The app
also features Auto Pager feature which allows the browser to automatically load
the next page in case it's part of a series of pages. The Speed Mode 2 feature
detects the type of Internet connection the users are using for the device and
the webpage, and fetch the most suitable version of the webpage on the browser.
The company also announced last year that it was opening its second headquarters in India as it had seen a good uptake of the browser amongst Indian users. UC Web claims that it is the number two mobile browser in India with a 25 percent market share which shows the enhancement of UCWeb.
