We all know what Knocking is in general terms,
like to knock on door or window. Ever thought of knocking your Iphone to unlock
your Macbook ?. Yes you read it right. Knock your Iphone to unlock your
Macbook. App named “KNOCK” has made
thing possible, it take advantage of Bluetooth to establish connection between
two devices and you just need to knock your Iphone to login.
It’s safe, secure and works over Bluetooth
connection. Whether the phone is in your pocket you just need to knock it, and
it would respond perfectly. Mr. William
Henderson and Mr. Jon Schlossberg are two creative minds behind this app.
So how to use knock?
Step 1: Install
You need to download App for Macbook and
Iphone app at cost of $3.99. As Knock only uses Bluetooth LE it would perform
on Iphone 4s and further.
Step 2: Launch
Launch App on your Macbook and on your
Iphone, you would be prompted with message to turn ON your Bluetooth. Next you
would be instructed to lock your Iphone.
Step 3: Knock please
After successful completion of setup you
would be requested to knock your Iphone twice to confirm pairing between your
devices, and please enter your Mac’s password in box provided. And you are done
with it. When next time you get back on your Macbook, a ring like image would
signal that knock is running and you can now knock your Iphone to login.
So is this Secure?
Yes, it is. Security is given the top most
priority as password is encrypted using RSA encryption and it is being stored
on your phone and key to decrypt is being stored in Mac.
As of now Co. has launched a beta version
with 100 users and future this tech can be included over the web. API would
also be launched for the android users. So both platform IOS and Android can
use this Knock app. being much secure and using Bluetooth LE Company has many
more things to lock and unlock them by a “KNOCK” on your phone.
In a small feature you would just have to
KNOCK your mobile in order to unlock your Gadgets.
