As the year 2013 is ending, Apple has got some good news for its users to celebrate the coming 2014. As the latest reports are to be believed Apple is working on its 12.9 inch iPad with a Retina display and will be available in market in October 2014. Apple’s CEO Tim Cook hints for the big plans for 2014.
As the reports say the tablet will be manufactured by Taiwan based PC manufacturer Quanta Compute. The report said that an iPad with a nearly 13-inch screen would largely buck the current trend of smaller tablets and phablets currently dominating the global marketplace and could function as a tool particularly useful in educational environment.
Earlier speculations have hinted to an iPhone with a larger screen and an Apple-branded smart television. But this rumored large-screened iPad will have improved picture quality because of the Ultra High Definition (UHD) quality display. UHD or Ultra high definition has 3840 x 2160 resolutions, although the actual resolution of this 12.9-inch iPad has not been mentioned yet.
History says that Apple avoids following trends, and has always opted for new trends and new product categories showing the breadth and depth of innovation at Apple. Earlier this year, Mr. Cook had hinted that Apple had lots of products lined up in 2014 including some new product segments.
Another report says Apple is going to launch larger size iPhone for May 2014 using a 20nm processor manufactured by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. Multiple reports suggest that the device will feature a display in the 5-inch neighborhood which is still bigger than the current iPhone but not quite as huge as phablets such as Galaxy Note 3.
As for a larger iPhone, rumors have suggested Apple is toying with a design with a 4.9 inch display that the company wishes to debut in 2014. Apple has previously in 2012 increased the size of the iPhone screen, when the iPhone 5 debuted with a 4-inch screen then.
These larger screen sizes will put additional strain on iOS 7 and developers who will need to figure out how to adapt their apps to even more configurations. These additional formats will definitely provide some exciting opportunities for applications as well, and we can anticipate that the iOS 8 will contain many features designed to accommodate multi-screen design.
Now, let’s hope these reports come out as authentic and make 2014 an year for gadget’s lover.
