The Google folks have announced a Google Glass update officially called XE11 and has added a few much requested new features, and improved some other key areas.

Updated Google Glass : 'Google Glass XE11'

Have an eye on  : Revolutionary Google Glass

Google Glass XE11 has some great new commands. They are calling this “Great Lifehack” command, which simply means it is designed to make life easier for you. Most of the new commands have to do with calendars and directions. Here are some examples for it:

  • “OK Glass, Google.” Then “My Agenda” brings up the most recent items in your schedule.
  • “OK Glass, Google.” Then “What am I doing in November” brings up items specifically scheduled for November.
  • “OK Glass, get directions to work” or “OK, Glass, get directions home” will quickly help you navigate to those important destinations.

Google has integrated personal calendar search which should make users lives much easier. Personalized calendar results will show you what’s on your calendar for the day or week, and even gives you daily agenda.

Google has improved how Maps work with Glass, letting users get directions to Home or Work as long as the user has specified those addresses. The next time you want to get home, just speak the normal “Directions” command and then say “Home”.

XE11 includes a usability tweak as well. Now a long press on the touchpad will no longer activate Google Search. There is also a “Start Screencast” shortcut in the notification draw that makes it easier to display what’s on Glass on a connected Smartphone

The message screen “OK Glass” is the most common one you see, since it activates whenever you tap the side or tilt your head up. The screen lets you know Glass is on and actively listens to your voice.

Google is still not endorsing the resale of its specs, but it has removed the clause in its terms which formerly gave it the right to deactivate Glass if it was sold second hand.

Google says, The Explorer program is about taking Glass out in the world and seeing what’s possible with the technology. We hope our Explorers are excited to do just that. While it’s against our terms of service to sell your device, we don’t plan on disabling any Explorer’s device.

This new attempt of Google will surely turn out to be a boon. For more information on the new Google Glass XE11 stay connected with edictogram.
