Apple’s 3D Leap
Apple has acquired PrimeSense, a motion tracking company, best known for licensing the hardware design chip used in Microsoft’s Kinect motion-sensing system for the Xbox 360 which is a popular gaming device. 

Apple has reportedly bought it in $345 million. Apple will be using motion controlled interfaces devices in near future as it has registered patents for its own motion controlled interface.



Tech Appeal:

  • Apple products may come with advanced body movements tracking technology.
  • PrimeSense technology could be used in television system that would use streaming smart TV system which would use body gestures instead of remote control.
  • This technology will be used in front-facing iPhone or iPad camera to detect head movements.
  • User can select any option by tilting his/her head to one side.
  • The head movements, both left and right can be assigned different tasks which include returning to the main home screen, activating voice assistant etc.
  • This technology will be useful for persons with limited mobility or other disabilities.
  • PrimeSense technology could be used in Apple’s smart watch project, unofficially called the iWatch.
  • The Kinect is intelligent enough to detect a person’s skeleton, face and expressions.
  • It includes other features like you can pick a call by waving your hand over the device or pause a video by looking away.
  • Apple will be coming with iRing motion control in television sets.
  • PrimeSense chip enables devices have depth perception. You can see objects in 3D.
  • The new interface will have easy to use motion graphic tools for creating eye-catching titles, transitions and effects according to the sources.
  • The new version of the iOS mobile operating system is still in the beta testing phase which will include motion detecting features for iPhone.
  • This emerging feature of iPhone will override the usual touchscreen controls.
  • Motion control options have been used in Samsung, which incorporated eye scrolling and hand wave gestures in Galaxy S4 and now it’s Apple’s turn to use this technology in a more intelligent way.


Such technical upgradation will definitely increase the market value of Apple. This 3D technology will make you reign on your device with a nod of your head. This proves the advancement of Apple and we are hoping to hear more from it.
