LINKEDIN - ON THE WAY TO TIGHT REIN STALKERS
Biggest platform for professional social network, ‘LinkedIn’ is soon going to add a user safety option of ‘Block’ in its features. This is planned keeping in account the safety and privacy of users. Software engineers of LinkedIn are still processing this feature to implement it on this huge networking site.

“There is a frequent demand by users for introducing this safety option and   keeping it in account LinkedIn is processing the block feature and it will be helpful for users. This will give control to users of their own account.” said by Paul Rockwell head of trust and safety on LinkedIn.

Since LinkedIn is a huge network it is very difficult to keep a control over unwanted visitors to an individual’s profile. Profile of all professionals contains key details like the place where they work, their contact details and much more information. If such key details are visited by stalkers on LinkedIn they take undue advantage of users by harassing users in different ways. This can only be controlled only when user delete his or her account. As of now there is no option on LinkedIn to restrict stalking people to visit your profile once he or she is added to user’s professional network. Moreover email addresses are also accessible to all on profile. Although there is privacy settings which can be edited before you add anyone to your network and control the visibility of profile and photos publically. But this may restrict the recruiters and other professional from your profile which is a major drawback of privacy features of LinkedIn.  Flag and report policy is also helpful to keep stalkers away. When it comes to female professionals on LinkedIn, the safety features hold utmost importance as victim of stalkers are mostly female professionals.

In a discussion a female professional says that “I am monitored by a former employer and went to up to the extent of following me till my workplace.” Many cases like this are happening frequently where users face threatening and stalking.

LinkedIn after facing a strong criticism on its security and privacy is now finally introducing ‘block’ stalkers feature, although it's on LinkedIn roadmap, they will release block feature soon, however no final date has been announced.
